Stop 1 — Kourtaliotiko Gorge & Freshwater Scenery
Begin your exploration of southern Crete at Kourtaliotiko Gorge. Towering rock faces, mountain air, and the sound of running water create a striking introduction to this part of the island. Where access is permitted, follow the stepped paths towards the gorge’s lower areas and discover the landscape around its springs. Take time to appreciate the rock formations and photograph the scenery before returning to the vehicle. Please note: This stop involves steps and an uphill return. Access to the waterfall area depends on local restrictions and conditions on the day.

Stop 2 — Preveli Beach & Palm Forest
Continue to Preveli, where a freshwater river reaches the Libyan Sea beside a natural palm grove. Here, southern Crete reveals a softer landscape of greenery, riverbanks and open coastline. Walk down to the beach and spend your free time exploring permitted paths around the palm forest, taking photographs or enjoying a sea swim when conditions allow. You can also settle beside the water and appreciate the landscape at your own pace. Please note: Beach access involves walking over uneven ground, with inclines and steps depending on the route used. The return walk requires effort, particularly in warm weather. Walking to and from the beach forms part of the allocated stop time.

Stop 3 — Kalypso Beach & Rocky Coastal Inlet
Your final coastal stop brings you to Kalypso, near Plakias. This narrow rocky inlet offers a different setting from Preveli, with steep rock formations surrounding the water. Enjoy the coastal views, take photographs, or swim if sea conditions and access permit. Afterwards, rejoin your driver for the return journey to your designated drop-off location. Please note: Kalypso is a rocky bathing location rather than a broad sandy beach. Access to the water may involve steps and slippery surfaces. Space beside the water and any available beach facilities can be limited during busy periods.
